Warning signs a client is about to leave, and what to do about them

Clients of service businesses rarely leave without warning. An agency, an IT service provider, an accounting firm or a facility services company usually loses a client after weeks or months of small changes: shorter replies, a cancelled review meeting, a new contact who asks basic questions, an invoice that is suddenly questioned. Each change looks harmless on its own. Together, they are a pattern.
The problem is that these signals are spread across different people and tools. The account manager notices the tone, finance notices the late payment, and the delivery team notices the extra escalations — but nobody puts the pieces together until the notice of termination arrives. This guide lists the warning signs that matter most, shows how to check whether they are real, and gives you a practical plan for the first week after you spot one.
